SUSTAINABILITY

Having our own organically grown produce within a minute’s walk from our property not only ensures it is both fresh and healthy, but reduces CO2 emissions which would have been produced by transporting it from other locations. By blending the most effective traditional Lao farming techniques with new, more sustainable practices, we hope to both promote food security and limit environmental damage in the region. We invite both international visitors and encourage locals from the community to use these gardens as a place for learning and of sharing new ideas.

Lao cuisine is influenced by several Southeast Asian and European countries, but its traditional dishes and flavors have a unique and savory flavor and texture all their own. At Mandalao’s restaurant we feature traditional dishes made with fresh produce from our organic garden. As visitors to Lao, we can delight in these century-old culinary treasures – and those with a more modern twist – and immerse ourselves in what is truly ethnic Lao gastronomy.
